On the Road to Oskaloosa, Iowa - Our First Snow

We left Wausau, WI this morning with snow starting to spit so we made a slight course correction which made our drive about 40 miles longer but allowed us to stay on interstate highways most of the way in case the snow got heavy.

Although we drove through blowing snow in Wisconsin, by the time we reached Illinois it had mostly stopped.  We took a break for lunch near Davenport, Iowa at a restaurant called the Machine Shed, a regional chain that is somewhat reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel and whose motto is "Dedicated to the American Farmer".  The food was terrific.

It was a fairly long drive so along the way some of us watched a movie and most of the Alabama/Ole Miss game.

We reached Oskaloosa around 5 PM.  Although Oskaloosa had been covered with snow that morning, by the time we got there the skies had cleared and the snow had melted.

We performed tonight in the George Daily Auditorium, a facility with outstanding technical capabilities that is attached to the high school in Oskaloosa.  It was a small but appreciative crowd and, as we have found everywhere we've gone, the folks in Oskaloosa have taken great care of us even though our stay here will be very short.  We leave in the morning for a long travel day to Oklahoma City, OK.
