Travel Days

We left Oskaloosa on a cold Sunday morning.  In fact it was 24 degrees a record low for that date in Oskaloosa.  We drove south through Iowa and Missouri, stopping in Kansas City for lunch before heading out across Kansas for Oklahoma.  It was a long day but time on the bus seems to go quickly.

With two television lounges and lighted bunks everyone has plenty of options on how to spend their time - reading, writing, conversation to watching movies or sports.  For several of us Sunday travel time was absorbed by the baseball playoffs.

We reached Oklahoma City around suppertime and several of us headed to Red Lobster for dinner, then back to the hotel for the night.  Next morning after breakfast we packed up and headed out again, now going west across Oklahoma and Texas.

We stopped in Amarillo for lunch at the Big Texan Steak Ranch, home of the free 72 ounce steak.  Free, that is, if you can eat the steak, a salad, three shrimp, and a dinner roll in an hour.  I had a 9 ounce strip.  It wasn't free but it was good.

Beautiful scenery across the panhandle of Texas into New Mexico and we reached Albuquerque around suppertime.

So we've settled into our hotel for our longest stay in one place since Lexington.  We don't do our Albuquerque show until Thursday, so we've got the next two days off.  We're looking for highs in the mid-70s for the next couple of days so it's time to do a little exploring.  Details to follow!

  2. Not bad at all. That's where I rest. It's surprisingly comfortable. Not a lot of space, but restful.
